In partnership with Austin Flamenco Academy, a premier Flamenco dance studio, we are ecstatic to present a traditional Spanish tablao of dance, music and song. Featured artists are Flamenco dancers Andrea Lopez and Drea Pacot, classically trained Flamenco guitarist Jose Manual Tejeda, and the deep soulful cante (Flamenco voice) of Celia Corrales. 

Sister Songs kicks off its new cabaret performance series with the Moliter sisters in concert. Through musical theater songs and standards, twin sister vocalists Elizabeth and Laura share stories of the lives they’ve lived and of new life on the horizon. Join us for a magical, fun, and inspiring evening from this dynamic duo, their gifted musicians, and exciting special guests!

A fun filled evening that includes dinner, cocktails, wine and non-alcoholic beverages, a print your own poster experience at the adjoining Press Room letterpress studio, a live musical performance by Graham Reynolds, a conversation about film composing and editing between Graham and Oscar-nominated film editor Sandra Adair, and the Austin premiere of the long-lost, recently discovered Clara Bow short film THE PILL POUNDER with a sweeping new string quartet score by Golden Hornet Young Composer alumni RIya Kumar.

A GURU NAMED FRANK is John Henry’s story of struggle, perseverance, and transformation, told through his inimitable songwriting and storytelling. Performance by John Henry McDonald accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Oliver Steck. All proceeds benefit Austin Classical Guitar Juvenile Justice Services. A Pineapple and an Old Yellow Curtain is a Collection of poetry written by Laraine Kentridge and inspired by the Great Lakes, the Great Hawk, the evolution of the earth and the human being’s place in the world. The poems are small stories celebrating patient ghosts, expansive geology, small musings on mango, tea and ritual, pain and sorrow, anger and love. In the end, we discover who we are, who we can be and our “kinship” with gardens, oceans, clouds, music and a bright guiding moon.

This event will feature a selection of those poems by Laraine that composer Justice Phillips has created music from. We will experience a combination of classical guitar, voice, and spoken word in what will be a gorgeous evening!

Join YouTube New Wave filmmakers, The Basement Boys, at the premiere of their brand-new series’ live at the beautiful Rosette theater! The premiere will feature three original films that all connect, as well as a reception and Q&A with the filmmakers. Get ready for a night filled with laughs, thrills, and memorable moments.

We close our Play! series with a beautiful evening of music by guitarist Dragoș Illie. The internationally acclaimed artist brings us an enchanting program inspired by his home of Romania. Dragoș will transport you to the heart of his homeland, from the lively rhythms of Romanian folk music to tender ballads that will tug at your heart strings. Join us for this intimate finale!

The Forgetting Curve is a solo show from composer-improviser Graham Reynolds, made in collaboration with Fire Records from London, that instrumentally explores themes of memory and forgetting. Graham will helm a station of aural creation and fixation, from traditional piano sounds to a giant orchestral bass drum to samples, synths, and guitar pedals that transform everything you hear. Designer Jim Findlay has created a complimentary video projection system that responds to the music, enveloping the stage in images exploring The Forgetting Curve and the world of memory.

In the mid-nineteenth century, German psychologist Hermann Ebbinghaus strove to learn more about the process of forgetting, the timeline it took, and how we could retain more of our memories. His “forgetting curve” represents this in visual form, showing how the things we learn fade over time. Graham explores this concept and more in this new and engaging solo show.

In the USA, Tartan Day is an annual celebration of the contribution of Scottish Americans to the United States, as well as a celebration of Scottish heritage and culture.

In LOUSY CARTER, David Krumholtz (OPPENHEIMER) stars as a ne'er-do-well literature professor adrift on a soulless college campus who learns he only has six months to live. With the clock ticking, will he change his ways? Probably not. Auteur writer/director Bob Byington’s slyly subversive film also features comedy all-stars Martin Starr, Olivia Thirlby, Jocelyn DeBoer, Macon Blair, and Stephen Root.

Afterwards we’ll have a Q&A with David, as well as Andrew Bujalski.
